Nick Simons Award to Dhital

KATHMANDU: The ‘Nick Simons Award 2018’ has been conferred on Meera Dhital, an auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM), in recognition to her leading role and contribution to overall improvement of health services.

The Nick Simons Institute said that Dhital made an incomparable contribution to promoting pregnant rural women to deliver at health posts. Dhital works at Mohamad Health Post in Rautahat. She had played outstanding role in developing the health post into one of the best health facilities in Rautahat district. It is said that in a period of six years, she provided notable contribution to pre-natal and post-natal health care, maternal and child health through coordination in human resources, health equipment and development of physical infrastructure.

More than 1,200 women underwent delivery at Mohamad Health Post Rautahat last year alone. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, presented the Award to Dhital amid the 10th Eural Health Workers Conference here on Monday. The conference is jointly organised by the National Health Training Centre and the Nick Simons Institute.

The Nick Simons Institute is a non-governmental philanthropic organization whose aim is to enhance the rural healthcare services.
