| NSI Trainings |
| Nick Simons Institute is partnering with excellent health care institutions across Nepal to provide high quality training to health care workers across a broad range of medical specialties. In order to address the problem of misdistribution of workers, an approach that is both integrated and innovative is called for.

- Not just doctors, but workers who can substitute in the many places where there is no doctor.
- Not just traditional courses, but innovative training that meets the current needs of the country.
- Not just in large medical centers, but in settings that are similar to the rural centers where the trainee will work.
- And not just training, but support after training.
NSI is working to build up training in cadres of workers that seem most likely to serve effectively in rural areas. In developing this list, we have taken extensive consultation with the Ministry of Health, the Nepal Health Care Training Center, and the various development INGOs. We have posed the questions:
- Will this training improve rural health care access?
- Is there room for NSI to contribute, a gap in the existing training provided?
- Is the training feasible from the standpoint of NSI and its partner's resources? and
- Is the training financially sustainable?
